A well known scripture says, "However, do not let this escape your notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years......." (2 Peter 3:8)
Using this divine calculation of time, let's apply it to a prophetic type/anti-type scenario:
Matthew 16:21 says, ".....the Christ would suffer and rise from among the dead on the third day...", while John 21:1 reveals that it was at the very beginning of that third day - "On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and she saw that the stone had already been taken away from the tomb."
By the end of the second day Jesus had chosen his disciples, and on the third day provided them with conclusive proof that their faith in him was totally justified - by performing his first ever miracle. (John 1 - 2:2)
At Psalm 110:1, Christ is prophetically told by God (clearly after his ascension to heaven) to sit and wait. Christ's death and resurrection occurred approximately 1,984 years ago, indicating that in roughly 16 years from now, (2033) we will reach the end of the "two days" (2000 years) and see the beginning of the "third day." At Hosea 6:2 there's this prophecy - "He will revive us after two days. On the third day he will raise us up, And we will live before him."
Why not run this conjecture up the flag-pole and see how it blows in the wind? It's not any more ridiculous than your predecessors' attempts to prophesy "the end", and you never know, it might trigger a repetition of the pre-1975 increases, namely converts, money, and pioneers! :)
